 Description 

Biodentine is a tricalcium silicate-based material designed to be a permanent dentin substitute. It is bioactive and biocompatible.

Biodentine is based on Septodont’s innovative Active Biosilicate Technology™ platform, and is the first all-in-one dentin substitute offering bioactivity and outstanding sealing properties to fully replace dentin, both in the crown and in the root wherever dentin is damaged.

Biodentine is a new inorganic restorative cement which possesses better physical and biological properties compared to other commercially available cements.

It stimulates the formation of reactionary dentine and maintains pulp vitality despite the preparation of a deep cavity and the placement of a filling material.

Versatile usage: endodontic repair and restorative procedures. Chair time savings, thanks to direct bonding of the composite onto Biodentine™ now possible in the same session. Reactionary dentine genesis for pulp vitality preservation.

Indications :

In the crown: temporary enamel restoration, permanent dentine restoration, deep or large carious lesions, deep cervical or radicular lesions, pulp capping, pulpotomy.

In the root: root and furcation perforations, internal/external resorptions, apexification, retrograde surgical filling.

Biodentine has different properties than an MTA.

• Setting is shorter (min.) – 6 initial and 6 final, compared to 2h, 45 min.
• High pH >11 that lasts for 72 hours – inducing antibacterial properties.
• High resistance to microleakage to reduce the risk of secondary caries.
• Highest amount of calcium ion release.
• Provides excellent marginal adaptation.
• Handling properties – creamy consistency with ease in placement.
• Can be a restorative temporary for up to 6 months.
